I have asked several people, what would cause a bucks antlers to grow
in this fashion. Some say it got hung up in a fence but I don't think so.
Some say the buck ran into a wall of some sort when his antlers were in
the velvet but that to me is unlikely. One person said it could have been
a casterated buck. I have a few shed antlers that have the same
characteristics, but nothing as pronounced as these.

I found this skull years ago. It
was all entacked and the antlers
were laying with it. One side was
shed normally and I have just
proped it up. The left side never
shed but came out of the skull
leaving a hole the size of the base
of the antler. It isn't fractured but
looks like it rotted out while the
deer was alive. I found it in an
open area so I don't think it hit it
on anything.
Thats an elk leg I found that is
under it . My wife thought I had
gone over the edge when I
started bring home an old elk leg
but if you look at it real close you
can see where a porqupine had
gnawed the length of it. It almost
looks like it was carved.
This is my five fingered elk.
The base is a normal size for a
fairly good bull but their is no
main beam. I remember when I
found it. I spotted the burr a
long ways down a steep hill I
was crossing. I almost didn't
even go look at it because I
figure it was an antler the
porqupines had chewed up.
